Caring for your jewellery:

What is Gold Filled?

Gold filled comprises of a solid layer of 14K gold permanently bonded to a base metal such as brass. We prefer to work with gold filled settings and findings as compared to gold plated jewellery, the outer layer of gold is much thicker and more durable. The thick bonded layer of gold is tough and much more hard wearing than the thin layer of gold used on gold plated pieces, which may wear off over time. Gold filled provides a reasonably priced, quality alternative to solid gold.

Caring for Gold Filled Jewellery:
Keep your gold-filled jewellery looking it’s best by wiping over with a soft cloth. To return well worn pieces to their original shine, wash in mild soapy water and allow to dry before wearing.

What is Sterling Silver
Sterling Silver is a metal that contains a minimum 92.5% Silver. Pure silver is impractical for the manufacture of jewellery as it is too soft in its purest form and is therefore mixed with other metals to improve its strength and durability. These metals, often copper, become oxidised over time when exposed to air and humid conditions and this causes Sterling Silver to tarnish with time and wear.

We recommend the following steps to care for your Sterling Silver jewellery:

• Remove jewellery before showering, bathing, swimming etc.
• Store your jewellery in its original box or a jewellery box in a cool dry place when not in use.
• Polish frequently with a soft dry cloth
• If your jewellery becomes tarnished, use a silver polishing cloth the return the item to its original shine.

To clean gemstones:
To return gemstones to their beautiful natural sparkle we recommend gently cleaning them with warm water and dish soap / washing up liquid on a soft cloth or brush.
